In continued show of appreciation, Apple Computer, Inc. has chosen several US MacUser Groups to showcase the revolutionary iMac computer on the road to Macworld Expo New York happening July 8-10, 1998. The iMac has already caused great excitement among computer enthusiasts worldwide because of its innovative design, powerful features and low price.
Bye, bye.
Rhapsody is Officially gone.
June 1998
It is official: Rhapsody as a new strategy for Apple is dead. The technology, however, lives on in Mac OS X. After the WorldWide Developers Conference it became pretty clear that the Rhapsody technology would be repositioned in the tenth Macintosh Operating System. Although Rhapsody is gone, no one doubts the exceptional technological awesomeness. Ken Bereskin, Apple's Director of OS technologies, says that the rumors stating that Apple intends to port Mac OS X and Carbon to Intel processors are "completely unfounded." OS 8 lays the facts on the table.
Allegro all the way.
June 1998
Mac OS 8 has been one incredible success for Apple Computer, Inc with over 2.2 million copies sold and installed on nearly 3.5 million machines. 1998's version of the Mac OS 8 is Mac OS 8.5 which is code-named Allegro and will deliver many new enhancements and some interesting new features.
Mac OS 8.5 will pump out speedier file copying and native AppleScript. This PowerPC native version of Apple's scripting software will be one of the better features of Mac OS 8.5. Also the find-file feature is truly one of my most used and I'm happy to announce that it will be speeded up and have the ability to scan the contents of files and run Internet searches.

Wall street see the light.
"Apple has introduced an elegant new model that evokes the company's great past," yes the Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walter Mossberg really did say that, when reviewing the PowerBook.
